boot lock stuck

The boot lock is stuck, it can be opened via the latch on the driving seat
but if i try to use a key it rough to go in and won't turn, tried both keys.
Any idea why? I may just give up on this and fit a reverse camera instead as my last one had one in the number plate.
How hard/easy to remove the lock?
