Default Secondary Air Pump Valve Blanking

Hi,

I've been told the one of the secondary air pump valve on my 2007 STI is jammed open and as a result is drawing in air through the valve, I've bought the blanking plates to remove the valves but after looking at the job it looks like a major job to strip out both valves and especially the interconnecting pipe that runs across the top of the engine block connecting to the head on the drivers side behind the turbo up pipe.

Having looked at it would it be ok to just blank the valve by fitting the blanking plate between the valve body and the pipe connecting the valve to the heads and just disconnect the valves and pump but leave all the kit in place.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

Cheers

Scott

Has nobody done this before as it appears to be a common problem with the hawkeye models?

Surely someone must have had this same problem and blanked the valves off.

Yes there is already a few threads on here
Search them out - 2 much detail
But yes it's an easy temp fix opposed to -
You will have cel codes up tho

You can fit the plugs with engine in car - but drivers side is very time consuming & if you snap a head of the bolt it's engine out
Search secondary air pump
You should find what u need to do

Thanks for getting back on it.

I'd already looked at the threads for it and had a look at the drivers side myself too see how easy it would be, not very by the the looks if it so my question was can I just leave the interconnecting pipe in place and connected to the head and just fit the blanking plate between the valve body and the pipe at the other end under the intercooler which would save the problem of getting into the connection behind the up pipe.

No , you can't fit the blanking plate / you need to leave all the pipe work attached as it is / remove the pump & blank the pipe / remove cel codes & all is good , the servo circuit should close if disengaged / have done this as said b4 so def works
But it's better 2 fit the plates for a long term solution - so spend a day doin the job propped if I were you

Regards

Thanks Jazzy, I've got the blanking plates so this'll be a job for the weekend, weather permitting.
