To tune or not
I have a 1999 uk subaru impreza coming up to 100k on the clock, i think its all standard apart from exhaust and a dump valve which i hate. After having a ride to scooby clinc i was thinking of saving for there 320 hp package.
I no very little about my car what its horsepower is what injectors ,turbo ect .
What do you people on here think about doing this package with 100k on clock, will it put too much strain on engine, are this engines solid and can do big miles no problem. Your veiws most welcome.

Will have the 400cc injectors, tdo4 turbo, should be 225bhp standards, old uk cars was only 330cc so had 208bhp, You could get 320bhp out of your Car with a vf35 turbo, decat, 3" turbo back exhaust, 255 fuel pump, Remap, Any higher and you would need 550cc pink injectors, clutch and gearbox wouldn't like anymore either, intercooler wise I would say a sti top mount or a quality front mount, Will it be safe? Hard one, some cars will take it day in day out, others will go bang if pushed, best bet to enjoy the car as it is. And buy a sti when you can afford too,

100 hp more is a lot.
Why not do it in stages and see how you get on? A pump, injectors and remap should see 260-270 with your TD04 and it'll be really usable power... You can then upgrade the turbo and other bits in 12 months time, once you've wiped the smile off your face... ;-)

What is the difference between my intercooler and a sti one , they look the same. Dont fancy the decat if it has to be changed every year for mot, unless its a easy job. Is the vf35 turbo a stright change, and are they easy to change. Any idea what is the weakest link in my engine anyone done the same mod with the same milage, and any problems.
I do like the car very much and only just brought it, what hp are the sti. Many thanks

Most STI's are 280bhp.
V1, V2, V3, etc just means the version number. V1 was 1993-1994, V2 was 1995-1996, etc.
As blackvenom says, you may not need injectors if you have the 400's.

as said above start off with the more basic things first. like the air filter and exhaust.
the yellow 440s are good for over 300 bhp, sti top mount has a bigger surface area thus making it more efficient.

I no the middle and back box are s/steel magnex, the down pipe seems rusty and looks like it will be a pain to replace. Wont there be a sensor in it.
