Not as yet, the pins are holding it together as they are just as rusty. I've got new pins/seals etc on the way.
I'm probably going to get shot for saying this but i was contemplating re-using the pistons. After a clean up/wet and dry????
£80 for a new set of pistons.

You can't buy the seal rings that join the 2 halves together.
Stainless pistons can be had for about £80.
Unless you paid about £20 for the pair, they are just not worth refurbishing.
I just refurbished a pair that cost me £55.
After parts alone without any cost for my considerable amount of labour,
I sold them for £200 and still made a loss.
WRX PRO calipers are £160 a pair brand new.
Rusty calipers - £55
Pistons - £80
Seal kit - £30
spring/pin kit - £25
Bead blasting - £15
paint - £10
= £205 without any labour.

if you diy properly, it doesnt cost that much.
I used a wire drill attachment and pressed hard to get the really stubborn stuff off,
New seals and pistons were used though I just bought oem style plated pistons as these ones had lasted pretty much 10 year before needing done, I guess I may not have the car in another 10 so no point paying the premium.
They looked like this once split, from a distance they didnt look so bad but the pots were slightly pitted and needed replacing as they were catching, one was pretty much siezed. Can you guess which one?
I used Jap import parts and Bigg Red for parts.
You can see where I had wire drilled the inner surfaces to remove the heavy rusting.
When finished, looked grand and stopped the car the way it should from factory again.

knock off all the loose stuff then soak them in warm vinegar (14p a pint at tesco) for a few days.
Then do it again!
and again.
Good price for the bits kits, where did you get them from?
Scoobyworx will give you a discount on stainless pistons if you mention this site.
I have some caliper half seal washers I had made up if you need them, £1 each.

It's not what you know, but who you know Thing is, no company will make them if you say there for brakes (liability reasons) You just need seals of the right dimensions and impervious to heat and Polyethylene glycol.
If you have some new seals to hand that you know fit perfectly, would you mind pm'ing me the measurements?

The seal kits we supply come with the seals in between the 2 caliper halves so I loads of used ones I have kept which are in perfect condition if you want some , I also have a set of brand new pistons you can have for £40 which I have taken out of a pair of calipers which were upgraded to stainless pistons.
Or we also supply 8 stainless pistons and a seal kit for a pair of front calipers for £99 plus P&P

It was a few years ago when I was looking for the small seals, and no-one could supply them.
A local gasket place made them for me, now everyone has them!
