Default Strange catch can issue.... Please help.

Well I've had the classic for almost 2 years now, it had some mods done already one of which was a catch tank. On the side of this catch tank is a clear tube so you can visibly see when/if it's getting full. I always keep an eye on this as really not good to let it fill up.
I've done about 3000 miles since I've had the car and have never seen any sign of substance in the catch can. So, yesterday I decided I would remove it and investigate further as think it's very strange nothing is being collected. So took it off for closer look, nothing in it what-so-ever. Not a drop !!!!
Isn't this very odd, surely after circa 3K miles something would be in there ?

Maybe the breathers are setup incorrectly but I'm not sure which ones go where. I've done a search on here and seen 'how to guides' but I'm still confused.

Any help would be gratefully received guys.

Thanks,
Matt.

first connect two pipes from rocker breathers to can one on each side.

other one is under coolant tank.

Then remove pcv valve its located under throttle body replace with blanking bung its under pipe masked off in pic.

then block the top of pipe marked red in pic with another bung, connect pipe from bottom marked yellow to can. all 3 pipes to can. then connect pipe at top of can and put it down below bulkhead area to take away smell of vapours.

Mine works perfect just emptied it last week.

Hope this helps

Mark

I thought the catch tank had to have a pipe that runs back to the air intake, this gives the tank a small vacuum which helps draw the vapours into the tank

If the can is too small or the inlet and outlet are too close together then there isn't time to separate the oil.
Is there at least a small film of oil on the inside surface or is it absolutely clean?

Think I found the problem today and sorted it all out.
It appears some pleb had piped the can up completely wrong which is why it was not collecting anything.

It is a 2 port can so this is what I have done,,,,

Used one port as a breather on the can and fitted a small filter.
I have 'T'd' both rocker breathers and the block breather into one length of pipe and then into the can.
Should be ok I reckon..

It is ok to 'T' all three breathers into one pipe isn't it ?

Good, glad its all sorted now. Did find a bit of oil in my intercooler pipes so hopefully this fix should stop that.
