Hawkeye STI awkward in stop start traffic
Does anyone else find that their Hawkeye STI is a bit of a nitemare around town etc, especially in stop start traffic?
Just thought id see what anyone elses comments were before i wonder if i have a problem or not!
I think the issue is down to the FBW (fly by wire) throttle. It seems really sensitive when you are trying to set off in first gear when balancing the clutch etc. Its like you touch it lightly and the revs act like its been stabbed and fly up to just over ~2k minimum making for quite an aggressive launch as opposed to setting off smoothly.
Hard to describe really, but it feels like i am almost straining the clutch by using so many revs setting off.
Any comments would be appreciated

Put an exedy clutch in it mate as thought it may improve it and running more than standard power, but no different really...although it is quite direct (more 'paddle' like than a normal car say), i think the clutch action is pretty good, its just dialling in throttle smoothly thats the issue..
Dont think its the clutch really, even when standard. Think the issue is the FBW TB..

New flywheel mate, and its an exedy 'pink box' organic clutch, so nothing too compromising, just a slight upgrade over standard.
Do you have/or have driven a hawkeye STI?

Is there a way to 'reset' the throttle body that anybody knows of?
Not sure if there is a fault as such, or whether its down to software..just after anyone elses opinion on theirs really.
Its perfect when driving etc, just the small throttle movements when not moving/setting off.

Have you had the car mapped? Mine was mapped and the throttle mapping was altered.
I had mine mapped by Andy F and when I took a trip back to see him he adjusted the first 20% of throttle input to get rid of the 'on/off' feel and make it more progressive.
I had the same problem when trying to pull out fast, I was always giving it far too many revs.

Not overly bothered with the throttle as it sounds normal from peoples replies. The car is only used as a weekend car, but if i do get it mapped again i will see about throttle scaling

Another confirmation for mapping.
My Spec D PPP was horrendous in first and second in traffic and very easily stalled when pulling away. When I got it mapped last year I asked if the sensitivity could be reduced and it was like a different car afterwards.
Might be worth contacting your original mapper to see if it is an easy fix.

There are adjustments that can be made to the throttle on the mapping, 20% throttle can be made to rev quite hard if desired, I'd just ask for it to be tweeked a little. where abouts in cumbria are you mate, www.cumbrianscoobs.co.uk
