Default advice 05 sti

hi all
Really need your help on this one
Its been a while since i've had a scooby, had a uk 98 classic running @400bhp api tuned.18 months later i have the opportunity to buy a 05 sti european import wide arch but no dccd 36000 miles mint for 7k
Is there any problem with getting a car from Malta i.e insurance, modify or any other issues?
I am right in that these sti's are 280 bhp standard ? or do you think i should wait for a uk sti with dccd
thanx all

Scoobs are hard enough to sell used, without having a non standard [ no dccd ] one. You might struggle to get it gone when you need to. I'd wait.

I am not aware of any problems, other than the usual mini SVA test etc., to get it registered

I think DCCD was an optional extra in Europe ... tight gits!

My old WRX was a Maltese car (Parallel Import) and I had no problems with insurance, servicing or anything. £7k is UK car money easily, wait around for a decent UK one. Better yet, go JDM

If it is a genuine one and it's what you want go for it. Most people want DCCD, but when they have it just leave it in 'auto' anyway

I have one of those parallel Maltese Imports. I bought mine in April 2011 and it was mint. Just had it mildly modded and mapped to 336 bhp.

Mine was first registered in the UK, as it was imported by 'Motorpoint'. During 2004-2005, they imported loads of Impreza's, as they were a fair bit cheaper than the UK models. Soon after this time the price was levelled out, so these imports stopped.

My car has everything the MY05 model should have, except for DCCD. So you still will get, revised suspension, thicker rear anti-roll bar, alloy lateral links, longer wheelbase, wider rear track and of course the revised interior.

If its in real good condition, then don't miss out chap. Well looked after STI's don't come about often.

My STi JDM 2.0 twin scroll blob that you borrowed and liked was 395 / 395 on standard internals. Too good for the Swedish guy that bought it, he crashed it after about 5 k m's first drive......

Shame, it'll never be the same again.
