French Chalk used to be a good solution to a squealing belt. Can often show up in the winter when you have lights/screen demister etc running at the same time putting extra load on the alternator.

skib, I think they're talking about alternator drive belts - not seatbelts.

Unless I'm missing something.

Ups I havent read it carefully. It is becouse my bad language too. Sorry
Ok so if alternator belt squeak it means it is to loose. It means may be worn and needs replacement.

If they are new belts, they stretch after first use. Check tension and tighten if necessary.

If you don't know what you are doing, ask a dealer or Scoob specialist, since an overtight belt can kill your alternator bearings.

I have checked the tension of belts, seem good, they're not new ones but by no means look worn? ............curious.

my alternator/power steering belt was changed last summer and have noticed that last winter and this that the belt squeals like a bast**d when cold. When turning the steering wheel in particular, the belt seems tight (its just embarassing the horrid noise)

Get the tension checked. There is far more to it than pressing on the shortest run like we used to
