Is anybody using this on xp pro
any one help please pulling me teeth out trying to get this sorted

do you have an actual serial port on your laptop or are you trying to use a usb convertor ?
cliffnet is pretty much impossible to get working with usb to serial adapters, only a very few work

spot on, really need to use with a serial port.

laptops hasn't got one only usb might have a play with it on the PC

You can use a card adaptor if your laptop has a card slot, they usually work.
