Trying to start my new age project, really odd fault!!
Hi, the stories goes bought an UK 03 plate wrx rolling shell, bought and built up an engine fitted it with sti inlet manifold, but still retained the wrx wiring and ecu. Ecu is looking for the tgv's which are no longer there but i dont think that will cause the problem below.
The problem is it wont start, pulled a plug out and checked for spark, it is only firing once on the first crank of the engine then not again????
Checked all wiring/ connectors, changed crank sensor, different coil pack, better earthing but it still wont fire up?
Any sugestions?
Thanks

Its a small light that can be pluged into wiring harnesess to see if they have power. In this case if you pluged one into the injector plug and cranked the engine it should flash as the injectors get a signal. There not to expensive and great for all sorts of electrical testing

Good point about the crank sproket, i used the one that came with the engine so guess its the correct one, but have used classic crank and cam sensors if they are different??
If it was reading it wrong would it spark but at the wrong times?
I blame mbayley77 as he sold me the car ha ha

Your sparks been off for years!
Your right it was my car but i played no hand in building said engine
Doesn't make sense that it sparks to start with then stops. Come on Scoobynet members help him out and stop him texting me for ideas

No its possible there wont ne any spark if you have the wrong triggers. I dont know if the newage ecu will work with classic sensors. May look at import car parts or similar for part numbers for classic and new age to see if there different

Just changed the cam sensor, checked continuity of the wiring from the cam and crank sensors to the ecu, also checked the injectors with a noid lamp they are doing the same as the plugs and only pulsing once then not again!
Just a thought the ecu is from a 01 wrx, it has been coded to the key by a local subaru expert, although i do have to press the lock unlock button on the key before i can crank it over. Is the 01 model ecu not compatable?? I guess as per the above statment it may be looking for a different trigger sproket?
Thanks
