Default Re-Mapping

hi guys, sorry this might be a little off topic but can't find the right place to ask. its not really a problem its just wondering. i always loved impreza's from a young age and have owned a non turbo for nearly 2years and i have just bought a 1998 s reg subaru impreza classic 2000 turbo AWD i was told it had 302BHP there was no print out provided and after driving her for the past 2days it dont feel like 300BHP but more like 270 area maybe less. i was just wondering if there was any recomended places in the oxford area where i could get a dyno test and possible remap done.

kind regards

Cant help with the rr but sorry to put on the downers. The 97/98 models cant be re mapped. So unless it has an aftermarket ecu its pretty likely not even 270. I would have thought a seller would push the fact as a selling point had it had one fitted

I wouldn't have bought it without proof.
If he doesn't know how to arm the alarm and lied about the BHP, what else has he lied about? or 'not known'?

Probably only a hours drive to Surrey rolling road from Oxford, IIRC about £60-£70 I think

i know the location of the ECU the main problem i got is myself as i work nights and when its my days off i like to sleep lol. i aint sure what version the car. in all fairness to the seller he was told by the guy he bought it off it had 300bhp that was some years ago and the seller did say he didnt know much about scoobys but is more of a cossie man. as for myself i know a little but not a massive amount. the car itself has had some mods done. change of turbo, spoiler, alloys, front splitter, 3" straight through decat stainless steel exhaust system, lowered, front mounted intercooler, HKS cone air filter and ally rad. so in my hoping the previous owner might of had the sense to of changed the ECU and i DID once have 300bhp but lack of TLC might of lost them ponies it use to have. every scooby should have TLC
