Default brake options for 350hp 380lbft tq wrx?

Hey guys,

Iv recently tuned my bug wrx to the above figures, my car has the standard wrx calipers with ebc drilled/grooved discs with unknown pads.

Since having the extra power the brakes are nowhere near upto the job and I can't get the best out of my car with the current brake set up.

What would be my best option on a bit of a budget?

Would Sti brembos all round be sufficient?

Would I be better with some used ksport front brakes and keeping my rears as is?

Was also wondering if I got the ksports on the front would my front ebc discs go on the back?

Thanks in advance for any help :-)

Possible options are Godspeed big brake kit, brembo's or K sport (my choice would be the K sports) but all will give similar braking potential with good disks / pads.

Keep an eye out in the for sale sections

No, the front disks will not fit the rear...the rear have integral brake drums for the handbrake.

"Would Sti brembos all round be sufficient?"

I have a full set of brembos and theyre leagues ahead of the standard wrx 4 pots! You should investigate wether the rear calipers will bolt straight onto your hubs though ..... and they dont clear some wheels! If your on a really tight budget it might be worth looking at a larger disc conversion which retains your existing calipers as the increase in disc diameter from the 294mm's to the 326mm's plays the significant part!

"Would I be better with some used ksport front brakes and keeping my rears as is?"

The general concensus is that the rears dont do anywhere near as much work as the fronts, but i believe its good to keep the car balanced in terms of brake loads or the rear end can get very lively on heavy stoppage!

"Was also wondering if I got the ksports on the front would my front ebc discs go on the back?"

eerrrr ...... in a word .... no! (might be possible if you dont mind doing away with your handbrake! but i very much doubt anyones ever tryed!)

I'm running similar power and have 356mm K-sports on the front with XP8 pads, have just changed the rear discs to standard and rear pads to XP8's as well.

Best decision I made, awesome brakes now.......

Cheers for the advice, i'm running kei 18's at mo which i've been told will easily cover sti brembos front and back, maybe some 2nd hand ksports on front and sti brembos on the back?

I'm just round the corner from scoobyspares so a full set of brembos all round would be easily available

i'll pop into scoobyspares and see what brakes they have available

also my hi power silver kei rims get covered in brake dust super quick so any reccomendations on some low dust brake pads?

cheers guys :-)

Also have aword with ian godney, on here Godspeed, he will tell you what he can offer, and about differing fittings, what will, and what won't fit.

I use his Kevlar pads and they are low dust.
