Exclamation FORGE MOTORSPORT IMPREZA TD05 W/G ACTUATOR...???

Can anyone help?...

I've bought a Forge w/g act. (as per the title of this thread). I want to change the spring but I'll be buggered if I can unscrew the hard metal spring retaining cap! Is there a special knack or something? (assuming, of course, that it's not cross-threaded)...

Cheers

I thought the forge adjustable actuators had allen bolts to hold the top on. Look again, and get pics up.

Yeah, to hold the shiny metal outer canister 'lid' on. But I don't mean that...

...I'm talking about the internals...

...The w/g canister end of the rod is threaded and screws into a cap's underside (this cap retains the wider end of the spring).

You, seemingly, have to grip the circular cap whilst holding the other (w/g flapper end) of the rod, and then turn anti-clockwise. Thing is, I can't get enough purchase (using a couple of pairs of mole-grips) -- the cap just slips round.

I think I'll have to get it in a vice or something....

Seriously Ryan - it's ludicrously stiff!

I reckon sticking it in a vice will hold it fast and should then be able to it unscrew okay....

Just make sure you put some protection in the vice first as not to completely ruin the polished stainless finish John.

All fitted. API sorted it for me (was having a clutch fitted there, anyway). Indeed, their vice came to the rescue....
