My old classic leaked from the front crank case seal if I remember correctly, it leaked straight onto the exhaust manifold and burned off producing a nasty noxious smell and smoke. Think it's quite common on scoobs so deffo worth taking a look.

I think it was about £80 to fix at a Subaru garage.

just run the engine and could see oil dripping from were the box joins to the engine, and there is no cover on the box and could see it dripping from behind the flywheel, so guess it must be the rear seal unless anybody else has any ideas.ste

The cover I speak of is behind the flywheel mate,It has to be either the rear crank seal or the cover plate leaking, engine out either way I'm afraid

Hi fella did you sort this and find out where it was leaking, would like to know as I changed the oil in the rear diff and gear box today and whilst under the car noticed it was wet with oil. It's seems to be coming down from somewhere up at the back of the engine on my car and onto the gearbox casing and dripping off just before the gearbox drain plug. Cheers for any info, Steve.
