Default Do I need a boost controller/solenoid for my PPP Blob?

Car: 2003 STi PPP
Mods to be done: Cat back & remap

To prevent any boost spikes should I get a boost controller or a 3port or is it not needed? Obviously I want to prevent any det or over boosting but don't want to shell out cash for a controller if it's not needed.

The standard 2 port can handle what you require a 3 port can offer better control but is not essential, although I had one fitted before my remap, also on 3 port less duty is required over a 2 port to obtain same boost, you don't need any fancy expensive boost controller though as the ecu is more than cabable of controlling the boost with either of the above.

So having a 3 port will give the mapper more control and in turn get better results and more consistent/safe boost?

3-port is better than 2-port,will hold boost and on your tune i would go for peace of mind(£75 cost Prodrive 3-port OEM)

Boost controller you are don't need, your ECU can control Boost nicely,Boost controller is recommended if you are going above 1.65bar,which i don't think you will reach this boost.

Don't fit this 3-port boost solenoid alone, this is work of Mapper(30 mins on the top for fitting),if you are fit this 3port boost solenoid, you will need run off the boost until remap.

No plan on doing it myself, i'm useless at those kind of things, will just buy it and give it the mapper on the day.

Std. ecu limits boost to around 1.45 bar, mine ran 2 bar for a long while, the mapper just dials in "loads of fuel" to cover it's demands.

As stated a three port allows better boost control by the ecu, det. & over-boost are not likely assuming the car is healthy on the day it's mapped.
