Default remap in advance?

My Bug WRX is going for a remap on Tuesday, but due to massively conflicting and confusing information I dont have my decat for it yet, though will have shortly afterwards.
Common sense tells me to delay the remap until the decat is fitted, but this isnt really an option as it will be at least 2 months before I can get it booked in again as I wont be able to get time.

So the question is, can the remapper remap the car to take account for it being decatted, even though it isnt? Would it cause a problem if he did?

It will need to be on the car at the time of the map.

delay your mapping session. and if you are worried to drive with downpipe fitted then fit near the time when you book your next remap, mapper cant pretend that you have a decat fitted, mappers job is to make your ECU accept the changes that you have made to the car which will gain more power but if there is not change no miracle can be made bud just listen to your common sence

The car will require a map tweak if you fit the decat after the initial map, wait and do it all at the same time.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I thought that would be the case.

I'll either hold off on the map or forget the decat. To be fair I'm having that much trouble with the decat that I might just ditch the idea, never thought it would be this hard to sort out!

There is no way I am buying a decat system for it to not then fit when my mechanic already has the car in bits and I dont want the sportscat either.

What I really dont understand and no one I have asked has been able to answer, is that if the Milltek is designed to fit onto the standard downpipe (which it obviously does) why will it suddenly not fit to a replacement downpipe that should have exactly the same flange as the standard downpipe?

What a predicament, I'd bite the bullet and get a whole new system. Easy to say when I'm not spending the money though......

I've only had the Milltek on for a couple of months, would rather not sell it if I dont have to. Guess I will just have to live without the extra power from the decat
