Default BHP... How much at a guess?

Hil all,

This may be a "how long is a piece of string" question but I'm curious to know after spending the cash.

I have an 05 WRX with the following engine mods:

Full decat, Tornado exhaust, Inner wing cold air induction with the cone sat behind the fog lamp mount and an Ecutek remap.

When I had it mapped, it was done on the road so I haven't got a dyno print out. I had it done about 2 months ago and I've noticed some serious gains from what it was prior. Pitched it against my cousin's completely standard 04 STi and I outran him with no trouble at all.

I don't anticipate putting it on a rolling road any time soon as I'm going to wait until I've upraded to turbo injectors and fuel pump so is there anyone who could give an educated guestimate as to what sort of power I'd be running with please?

mine was running 272bhp with, walbro fuel pump, full decat and K&N panel filter, then got board so put a harvey smith hybrid td04, and sti pink injectors which gave me 310bhp,

i would assume you would be anywhere between 270 - 280 thats if you have the td04 turbo but i am not sure if you have them on that model or not

You will have a TD04 turbo which limits the power you can develop because of the small amount of air it can flow.......Depending on the variability inherant in mapping the power will be somewhere between 265 and 280 BHP.

Trying to flow more air by raising boost simply heats the air up rather than compressing it...

The upside is that the small TD04 spools quickly and has good low speed pickup

Yeah, the quick spooling is the first thing I noticed. Getting it of the line has never been so easy!

So what would the recommended turbo upgrade be?

All depends on what power you want mate, i opted for the hybrid td04 because they spool up really quick and doesnt run out of puff as quick as the standard td04,
i am at full boost by 2800rpm which is perfect for me because i only use my car around the town so didnt want a turbo with alot of lag.

Usual upgrade for the WRX newage is the TD05 16 / 18G, VF 35 VF34 or an andy Forrest hybrid plus the bits to support it and the brakes to stop it and the suspension to keep it out of the ditch

Good point... I've got BCs with rear camber bolts and Prodrive settings sitting on 18" Redlines wrapped in Toyo Proxies. The grip is good, but I do need to start thinking about brakes. I think the front droplinks are a bit shot so I was going to replace them all with some Whiteline ones.

1st things 1st though, need to source some bargain OEM headlights as I've got some aftermarket halos that make me want to blow chunks every time I look at them.

No way can a WRX be quicker than a standard STI. No way.Your cousin wasn't trying or can't drive.
Your car is anywhere between 260 and 280bhp.
Add STI pinks and a VF35, remap to around 310 bhp
A decent set of discs and pads , together with DOT 5.1 fluid and braided hoses should see you stopping in time.
Whiteline 22 or 24 mm ARB makes a HUGE difference to the feel of the car.

Blob STi is 265 PS out of the box............ a well mapped TD04 will put more than that down on the road

As said you would be expecting around 260 - 280 bhp.

I do not lie my friend...

Got of the line quicker and found more legs again at around 65mph.
