Default What Oil...???

Any recommendations on an 03 STi? Heard Millers is the best but would appreciate your views.

Millers CFS 10W60 is quite a good one and used by some specialists. It's ester synthetic, so costs a fair bit!

5w40 or a 10w40, fully synthetic, the 15w50 is good in summer but a little harsh in winter and the 10w60 isnt suited to subaru's as they dont get hot enough and that means its not providing the best protection (and it also saps power due to it being too thick when hot), unless you have a 500bhp machine and then its not too bad

Should mileage be taken into consideration when buying oil?

Exactly same here except I use Millers 5w40. Many use this too and was recommended to me by a specialist.

Go for a 5w-40, and the Millers is as good as anything available. 10w-60 and 15w-50 are too thick for your engine unless it's massively modified.

Seeing 5w-40 recommended a lot, is there much difference between Millers & Motul? Opie appear to be doing a 1 ltr bottle free with every 5 Ltrs purchased on Millers.

Not a lot of difference between them, other than about £30 at the moment

They can work, but the filter should be taking out any metal parts anyway

Nice one cheers for your advice, performance filter make much difference as I don't want to buy £60 oil and defeat the object by getting a pants filter!

We have had the magnet argument (sorry discussion) before, great on some cars and not great on others, as you have an alloy engine (take magnet and put on engine, then catch when it falls off ) its not really doing a job on a subaru, if you have THAT much fragmented metal that sticks to one in your car, you have another issue you need to sort out
