And where did they get it from ??? Many thanks I just want my toy back nice and quite and a pleasure to drive again

It's more likely the shocks mate, there is not a lot to go wrong with the top mounts, you can remove the back seat and make sure the 3 12mm nuts on top of the mount are tight. If that's not the case change the rear shocks best to do both at the same time. Try camskill.co.Uk or Euro car parts.

The top mounts can become noisy. Have you had the car checked before you potentially shell out on unnecessary shocks and still have the issue if the top mounts are the source of the noise

i wouldnt be so hasty to replace the shocks.

i had a knocking coming from one of my rear shocks, bought a can of white lithium grease today and re-greased all 4.

noise has gone now.

worth a try, the grease cost me £4.49

And the squeaking is just as bad and also when I pull away it's like it lifts up and falls down and the ride is very bumpy I struggle to change the cd track on some roads

It's the shocks mate, the grease inside the standard shocks dries up and looks like lard, you can strip the strut down and clean all the old grease out and re grease.http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...wageRearStruts This will prob fix the noise for the time being but if your car has done more than 40.000mls you might as well get new shocks, in my experience the top mounts only see problems if the car is fitted with coilovers still using standard top mounts, but i suppose its possible to get a worn 1 on a car that has had a hard life.

I had the same problem on my car 04 sti and the 03 sti I have now, first time i stripped the strut and re packed, lasted 5.000mls then noise was back, bought new shocks 2nd time KYB ultra sr still going strong no noise as of yet, Anyway hope this helps some.
