Exclamation SENSIBLY PRICED TWIN SCROLL HEADERS/UPPIPE/DOWNPIPE...!!!

As title, are there any decent quality items - which last! - out there which don't cost the earth?

Is it possible to get all 3 items (maybe as a "kit"?) for around £500, from anywhere?

Anyone got any decent condition OEM items for sale, even?

Doubt it headers alone are worth £400 used.

Go for the genuine Subaru items, they are far better than even the best of the aftermarket parts.

I did ask Harvey about if the twin scroll headers could be improved upon and he said he doubted it as he had tried it before and could not improve the performance.

That's what I was thinking.

Okay, if I do decide to go TS, then I'll get OEM stuff.

Cheers.

Sure.

If I can be bothered to pay out for a full TS set up (inc. a VF36 or 37), then I know I'm gonna love it! (I've driven API Dave's previous VF37-equipped blue Blob STi, and the low-mid range and throttle response was amazing!). I'm totally sold.

Yes, good idea, BUT - a twin scroll uses different cams [ which won't fit your heads - before you go there ] to create the big surge in the mid three's. So you wouldn't get the full twin scroll experience by just fitting a set of headers and a turbo to your Ver 5 / 6 John.

It would be good, but not as good.....

Ahhhh, I just KNEW there would be a catch! (I would've, of course, consulted your good self first for all the advice, before plunging ahead, anyway).

Yeah, nothing less than the way your car felt, would make it worthwhile. Oh well, never mind (thanks for that pertinent nugget).

Yeah, drool.

What sort of price do a set of AVCS heads fetch second hand? Is it substantial work to hook them up to a STi 5, or is the AVCS simply mechanically controlled, and relatively straightforward?

Apart from a bit of wiring [ understatement ] and a Solaris ecu it's an easy job BUT will have cost well into 5G's by the time it is done.

Before I get a load of

A Solaris fitted and mapped is going to be 1800.00 or so. Heads built ready to use, are going to be £1000.00 fitting [ engine out ] some £600.00 or so. turbo probably 350 - 450.00 Headers standard £300.00 tubular £395.00 decat downpipe £200.00 Sump and piping £150.00 fit that lot £200.00 Plus the rewiring job to be priced per hour. PLUS VAT

Still sure John?? Be cheaper to buy a twin scroll car off me.

Simtek can be modded to do avcs and ran a twin scroll setup on a version 5 sti with sti heads and it was an awesome setup, avcs heads would be nice but not 100% necessary.

Car was only running 325bhp but managed a 12.7 quarter at 108mph
