Default Got big end failure!!!!

Hi!
I was worried before I bought a impreza for big end failure so I bought I little more expensive one and still got the damn problem !

Now to the question , do you think the crank has failed to ?
I stopped the engine as soon as I heard the knocking and since then it has not been started.

Havenīt took the engine out yet .
Were do I buy new bearings etc and what do I need more ?

Maybe buy a new shortblock ?

Whats the cheapest ? I have plans for sell it but canīt sell a broken car.

/ Dennis - sorry for bad spelling - Im Swedish !

If you can ship your engine to API they are probably one of the best people to advise you on what needs replaced. There are other good builders in the UK also such as Engine Tuner.

No problem. I did think this would be difficult to do, but sometimes people in Europe find prices here cheaper for certain things. I cannot help you as I am not experienced enough, but other people are and will help soon

yepp! I heard that it can be wery expensive to rebuilt a scooby !

I checked with Importcarparts.co.uk
They have new crank for about 500Ģ , rod bearings for around 70Ģ and mainbearings for about 90Ģ somthing like that and then som gaskets for about 500
So it would probebly be around 1000-1200Ģ with crank if I need to change it i think ?

Or is there a better way ?
new block from subaru ?

Parts from subaru are so so expensive. For example, I was quoted 900 for a clutch change ( standard wrx) when I got a race clutch fitted for 600 from a specialist independent garage. Youl save about 1000 in labour building it yourself, but you will be best buying those parts you mentioned, if you can though, speak to API in uk, they do allot of this exact work, worth emailing them for advice, they may even get the parts cheaper for you mate

We build and ship short blocks around the world for our overseas customers.
The low Pound means reasonable prices!

Hi Dennis

Your car should have an open deck block. We have several of those in stock for Ģ150.
A built short block with Wiseco pistons costs Ģ2235. this includes a new crank, new con rods, the forged pistons and ACL Race bearings. We balance the assembly and rebore using stress plates. All work is carried out on our premises. The block arrives painted, clean and wrapped, and ready to fit.
We can also offer a 2.0 or 2.1 version, using K1 H beam rods. The cost for this is Ģ2500 for either choice.
We also have a Cosworth piston version for Ģ2600.
We have run the open deck block fully forged engines at up to 520 bhp!
We would estimate shipping to Sweden at Ģ220
All prices include vat at 20%.

Hope this helps!

Regards Alan

Hi Alan!
My box is empty now !

Well I was more looking into standard/original parts.
As I am going to sell the car and buy a newage impreza instead.
And the gearbox canīt handle more power than the stock engine makes with just ecutech

The head bolts last forever no need to change then unless you are going above 400 hp.

The oil pan can be cleaned carefully. The oil pump can be reconditioned up to our modified spec or you can buy an exchange unit from us.

No need to change block bolts either unless you are going for BIG hp.
