Default Just bought a TD05

Bought a TD05 for my MY00 uk turbo. Its a converted one to suit the later model.

What sort of gains can I expect just bolting it on and running bog standard boost? Is it safe to do so until I can afford a remap?
Car has no other engine mods other than a backbox and cone filter.

not a great idea without a remap, although the boost level will be the same you will be flowing more air with the larger turbo

Remap is on the cards when Ive saved up for it. I figured running standard boost it would be fine until then...

Not sure what the actuator pressure is on this turbos but i sure it will be less than what the solenoid would make the boost to. So that should compensate for the extra air being flowed in. I have done it that a few times now until it has been maped still not great tho.

your still flowing more air at the same boost pressure regardless of what the boost pressure is ! Think about it 10psi on a td04 verses 10 psi on a gt35 = same air pressure but a shed load more air

If its not connected to the solenoid and running just actautor pressure, i would guess it would be flowing less air than the standard turbo would be if it is connected to the solenoid. But i suppose it depends what size it is 16g,18,20g?

the td04 gt35 was just an example to highlight my point, running at actuator pressure is irrelevant, of course the air pressure will be lower but that wont compensate for the extra flow, the ecu will still see the correct air pressure via the map sensor
