Default Re-map help

Scooby: MY96 JDM STi Wagon. Pretty much std engine, ported headers and cat back 2.5" zorst. Never been mapped

I'm considering a remap and am uncertain of the pro's & con's on this type of car, so am hoping for some feedback from you guys

I've always been a little worried over the fuel issue being am import. I did have the crank drop a month after I purchased the car. That was 3 years ago. While I always use 99RON and occasionally booster I've always been skeptical of octane boosters credibility. 5th Gear carried out a survey which was unfavorable to say the least.

So I would like the car mapped for V power and peace of mind.

Other than that, how much more power could be an expected gain?

Cheers

They vary a fair bit but usually 300bhp safely on standard intercooler and injectors.

Boosters do work nitrous formula works the best.
My daily driver I have mapped for 99ron and on occasion had to put 97ron in and checked it and knocking, add booster and knock goes.

You should get better mpg, more power and torque and safe on the fuel of your choice.

Main options are esl live mappable board or simtek

Another question then is should I look at changing anything else before remap?

The turbo is getting quite whiny lately so looks like that will need something soon. Would it be worth/safe changing this?

Thanks

Depends on your budget

I'm slightly surprised by an estimated 300BHP following remapping. I had always assumed standard factory output to be 300PS/253ft-lbs (as per V3 Gentlemen's agreement)?

What sort of change would the map increase the torque by?

your focusing on peak power.. the whole of the rev range would see gains but the standard intercooler is crap and you do sometimes see more but if I said 320 and you only got 300 youd be more annoyed.. they vary so much.

Wiki link:

I had assume as you said my96 is was a my96 v2 not an my97

Does it have ht leads? V3 my97 is so and then 320-330bhp with a remap but will require a replacement ecu like simtek

Sorry - my bad

Yes it does have HT leads

Replacement ecu sounds expensive

Edit: Just looked on your website - £895
