Default 20psi you sure

1993 sti wagon is boosting at 20psi surely this is not right?????
it had a mbc set to 16psi ive put the boost solenoid back on plumbed in etc but its still boosting far to much for me any ideas why it would be overboosting that much

My 97 wrx had a fuel cut set at 1.45bar of boost.

So i did the right thing and set the boost to 1.44bar

pal works for subaru put in a resistor here cut a link there etc,he put something in to stop detonation god knows but it seems to work and the lockdown sensor is something that holds peak boost through the revs so from 2000rpm up to 7000 it got peak boost not 100% sure how it works (git wont tell me)

your pals winding you up mate, if your cars detting you need to either add more fuel or pull timing, putting in a resistor and cutting a link is not going to do this and you dont need a lockdown sensor (what ever the hell that is !) to hold boost. Maybe getting an ecu that your friend hasn't had a play with will fix your overboosting and lack of boost control issues ?

its not detting just a safety precaution, the resistor etc was to raise fuel cut slightly without a crappy chip the lockdown sensor stops the boost tailing of at 5500rpm or whatever they drop slightly at, i trust him 110% ive seen his work and trust his 18years with subaru, the cut i was getting was the ecu safe mode as a coil went down **** knows why it was boosting 20psi whilst it was down bit of swappy swappy after 10mins describing the problem over the phone with him all is now well

Not being funny mate but none of what your mate has done makes sense As for crappy chip? A crappy chip is mapped, You cannot map a resistor Was his 18 years at Subaru a contribution to all the dodgy engines and weak components they made by any chance
