Default Changing gear shifter bushes

Just bought some uprated gear shifter bushes, but would like to know how to fit them, I havent looked underneath yet.

I have a MY00 UK Turbo.

Is it a DIY?

Cheers

Where did you get your bushes mate? Looking into this myself, to cure my slack gearstick.

Your slack gear stick could be down to a missing spring which connects the shifter to the box.

Your looking for part number 20... If you look under the car, follow the shifter, if you have the spring you wont miss it. If you dont, that may explain your sloppy gear stick.

Iain250 -

Yep. Its fairly common for them to go missing. The result is a sloppy gear lever, and the lever not returning to centre properly.

Here's a guide i found.

Just incase anyone is searching for this problem, I found the spring costs under 2 quid - make sure you get the genuine Subaru (got mine from import car parts). Fitted the spring and it totally sorted the slack gearstick issue.

Then went on to do the bushing, I bought superpro from import car parts again. All comes apart easy enough underneath, but getting the new bushing in was a tough job, the solution I found was to put the bushing onto the stud first then to push the bushing holding ring I used a lot of grease and got it on (with some effort).

Transformed the car, and my enjoyment of it!!
