Default 2000 turbo boost isues

hi,
just bought my first impreza its a uk 2000. Having problems with it not holding its boost. 1st gear is fine and sometimes 2nd however in 3rd and rest of the gears it will boost then cut out then boost again.
Checked the boost pipes all look ok and secure.
Any thing else i could try or anyone local to telford that could maybe help me out willing to pay of course
It has got a td05 turbo and yellow injectors so maybe needs a remap?
Thanks if any one could give me some advice had too mates that had the same prob and shortly after there engine died so iam trying not to let it boost atm.

Are you sure its running a TD05? If so... your asking for an engine build. It should have a TD04 on it. You risk damaging the engine running it like this mate. Your current ECU is mapped for an 04, that is why your car isnt running as it should.

I had a similar sounding problem mate and I believe it was caused by the maf not liking an induction kit, I put the standard air box back on but then had an accident in the snow and havnt drove it since so I don't know for sure if it cured it but that's what I was told by everyone I spoke to, i had a wooshing noise as the boost cut out then the noise stopped and the boost cut back in, but +1 for the above if it hasnt been mapped for the new turbo, cheers, Dan

If you have a td05 fitted and it hasnt been mappped, then as above your asking for an engine rebuild. If this is the case dont drive it with any boost and get it mapped asap

Check which ECU it has fitted. Under the front passenger side carpet.

I'm actually from Shrewsbury mate and I'm going to be getting my turbo 2000 mapped this year so I'd appreciate to hear where you go and how it turns out

£150 is very very cheap> be sure you get it done properly and research the mapper you use before letting him/her near your car. it could end in tears

with your year ecu it needs a licence on it for it to be mapped, to have that it cost around £600 all in. It would cost £150 after the licence is on it. The only way to check that is to get a mapper with Ecutek software to check.
