Default TD04 or a TD05

Hi all, my mum owns a 1995 limited edition auto impreza saloon. It was one of only 500 saloons to come off the production line as an auto. It doesnt have fwd lock as most auto it has diff lock. And a few other little bits and pieces on it etc. The problem is, it has a TD04 turbo fitted, i cleaned the ecu plugs as a few were sorched etc making the car run like a bag of pooh. Now the car is running megga rich. Using half a tank of fuel to 80 miles its running 440 injectors but these have been in the car since weve owned it, weve had it for 6 years and now its having these probs. Does anyone know if it is supposed to have a TD05 turbo which would explain richness and were weve had ecu off its reset it?
Thanks all
Luke

well, this is the bit were unsure of, because its not a standard auto impreza, it cam with 24o bhp instead of the std 220 bhp that came on them so a tad unsure. And thought about 02 sensor or a maf sensor but not to sure

Check for error codes at first and if its knackered O2 sensor(Lambda Sensor),replace.
First time mine O2 sensor went off,i have very poor MPG and after replacing O2 sensor everything has OK again.
All Subaru Impreza WRX 4EAT(Auto box),have only TD04 as standard(Classic or New age)

80 miles to half a tank god!!!!
is that through normal driving or from hard driving? a turbo should not a effect the amount of fuel it uses if your driving it off boost, but will if your driving it hard..
have you had the oxy sensors checked see if there working?, just read jura's post hahah what he said is most likely wrong with the car

hello mate, you say some of the ecu plugs are/were scortched? do you mean burnt? also the plugs you reference to as being scorched does one of them by anychance contain the o2 sensor and injector pins/connections? as for injectors all automatic impreza's saloon & wagon from my94>96 left the production line with 380cc grey top injectors, not 440's (yellow top).. if you are still running a std unmapped ecu then the fuel map for the 440's will be wrong because the fuel duty cycle is different between the two injector types. sounds to me as though the 6years of compensating for the different injectors may have frazzled something, just be carefull not to borewash the engine if its overfuelling as bad as you say. oh and by the way all jdm auto's came with a tdo4 top entry from new, usdm/european came with either a vf10 or vf12 with top entry adapter from new i think???
