Max speed !
Hi, whats the max speed you can do in a import spec subaru on the motorway, as i dont want engine going bang as alot of people says that they intend to go bang on motorways
A little bit more info wouldn't go a miss
ie :what year model, etc might help us to help you.As for them going bang
,dont know about that, but i would guess they will go as fast as you can get your foot to the floor
,if it hits 112 mph then its restricted
.If it goes past that then happy days

Cheers for the info
,it also depends on what mileage and service history your car has had as well as how many owners
. Remember your car is 16+ years old now and depending on how hard the engine has been driven may not take to well to constant high speed runs, but the occasional blast
should not do it any damage.Constant high speeds over a sustained distance will do more damage than a short spirited top end dash imho. My last uk car had 135k on the clock, but still managed more than the manufacteres top speed and never let go.

your right there
I have the jap limiter on mine still which is a good thing in my eyes
Takes away any temptation to go flat out..
Two people I know of both blew bottom ends whilst doing silly speeds.
The odd sprint is good enough for me , maybe i'm getting old

never to old for a scooby, well yeh iv heard people say bottom end goes, but that could also depend on what oil they using, and if its serviced right, 120mph is more than enuf for me, also for any car that wana race, old cars but still scared new cars
A man after my own heart
,at 70 mph i'am still in 3rd gear and no where near the rev limiter
. I recently posted on here that i have an aston martin 6.0 ltr V12 all to myself for a whole day in March
.No posing in the town centre for me
. M6 toll road and bruntingthorpe airfield here i come

Without a front mount intercooler fitted it is advisable not to do top speed runs as apparently the bonnet scoop struggles to trap cool air at high speeds hence the horror stories.

LOL THAT SOUNDS LIKE TOTAL SH*T TO ME theres guys running over 300bhp on here with standard top mount and ive done loads of flat out runs over 150mph with no problems at all when my type r was standard with top mount.
I dont think subaru would spend millions designing a car that cooked itself over 100mph.
My 93 WRX has just nudged 138 mph on the clock a couple of times but, with the engine at 7000rpm, it didn't stay there for long! It gets there very quickly though - could easily use another gear.
It has done sustained 120mph running on the continent in 25degC+ temperatures, but that was when it was relatively youthful and had under 150,000 miles on the clock. Now, with over 200,000 miles, I tend to keep it around the 100mph mark, but still has the odd blast to 120+
Still running the standard slanty top mount - maybe I've just been lucky?

naa i dont think so! i give my top mounted scoob regular held top speed runs i am not saying how fast coz you wont believe me, but it never gets hot until you are staitionary because thats when heat soak starts so remember that when you have been sitting in traffic and decide to blast away.
