Default Tapping noise

Hi all

I have a strange tapping noise coming from my front right wheel, the noise is rotational (it clicks in time with the wheel movement). The noise stops when i press the brake, like something is holding and no longer wants to click.
I have just replaced my pads, could it be that i need to lubricate the pins and pads? I had forgotten to do this.
My main fear is that it could be the cv joint, however due to the fact it stops when I press the brakes I don't think it is. Could someone confirm this, or shed any light on what they think the issue is?

You'll need to tell us the Make and Model of your car, plus the year it was made would help as well.

Cheers :-)

Sounds more like it could be the stainless shims that the pads sit on are over to far and catching a lump on the disc's surface ie rust lump

It's a 2002 impreza. I lost one of the shims doing it, don't ask how. Is it the fact it is not there that it's happening? What do they do?

The shims are there to stop rust build up between the pad and caliper jaw,if it is missing it will leave the pad with some slack/free play and thus will walk up and down slightly in the jaw which is probably your noise mate.

I had a similar noise, when fitted my front discs and pads ,the dust shield was catching the disc when driving ,just needed bending back into the correct place all fine after that.
