Engine Sensors - What Variable To Measure
The scooby does a lot of trackdays, and has a good replacement ECU.
I may get a racepac.com IQ3 which can digitally display (and log via SD card) 28 variables (like water temperature for example).
So the quesion is....what would be sensible to measure/monitor for the 'health' of the engine.
I was thinking....
Water Temp
Oil Temp
Oil Pressure
Air Intake Temp
Air Fuel Ratio
Boost
Not sure what else is important to see.
Thx.

Oil temp and pressure
EGT (exhaust gas temp)
AFR
Trouble is that there is so much you can monitor, normally when you lose that oil pressure the damage is done anyway
Your probably best just doing some basic mods like baffled sump and uprated oil pump, and an anti surge kit for the fuel as thats a common issue that can cause problems.

The IQ3 looks to be a nice peice of kit.
Exhaust temp would be a good one to log/monitor, always nice to keep an eye on it.
Air intake temp at throttle body would also be good.
Looks like you would have plenty of spare channels so it would be good to log pre and post intercooler temps/pressures and see how well the intercooler is working. If youve got a water spray for the intercooler then you will be able to see how well it works etc.

Hi you can have look at AIM MXL PISTA(which is cheaper than IQ3) http://www.aimsports.com/products/mxl-pista/index.html
And if you have all ready racepac.com IQ3,as above Tony recommend monitor these mainly AFR,EGT,Oil Temp and Oil pressure.
And you can have look for Oil cooler,Fuel swirl pot/Anti Surge Kit

Thanks for the answers guys.
Seems to be a general consensus which is good.
Just need to spend the $$$ now.
ECU is Haltech, who do a RacePak/Haltech joint product like the IQ3.
I thinks it's about AUD 2,600 when I last asked, but I expected AUD 5,000.
Not sure how much the wiring/sensors will boost the cost though.
The car does have fuel surge protection, but I think I need a few extras re oil surge.

I think the Aim MXL Pista @ $3159 and the Racepak IQ3 @ $1995 are quite similiar, both have data logging, GPS (for lap time), and G Sensor.
I think the Racepak is better value, also has bigger memory of 2GB.
