Boost + Gauge help
Hi Guys newbie here.
spent about 7 hours last night fitting my gauges but have a few problems i thought you might be able to help with,
firstly is how much boost should a standard 2003 wrx SA make?
Also has anyone got a picture of the line they cut into as apparently mine makes little to no boost so not sure i'm in the right one.
Also has anyone has problems where the sender unit for oil pressure fowls the alternator when fitted? i've ordered the T pieve from scoobyparts which i think should let me solve the problem shouldnt it?

Hi mate
I understand your car without map should make 0.8bar (11 psi) from standard.
If you have changed anything maybe a little more but would need a map to adjust the fueling etc which can then allow more boost.
Hope this helps

thats great steve! getting nothing alot of the time in first then 0.5 bar in others so definatly have a problem somewhere.
the gauge is on the line that had a T piece in and goes to controller on the left strut as your looking at it, thats right isnt it?

Any pics matey?
Where are you taking your reading from? Where is the pipe coming from to register the boost pressure. Best places are from the DV or like I did off of a nipple on the manifold.

Hello mate sorry for the late reply.
My set up is different to yours mate so my pictures of mine will be of no use to you.
You have teed it off via the vaccum on the actuator it looks look. How big was the t-piece?
Did your gauge a a recallibration prior? What RPM are you doing and seeing boost levels etc?

The T piece was probably about 3-4cm in total length, is the vacuum the correct place to take it from? looking at the guide they've taken it from a hose off the inlet but the only one i can find on mine is on the very right hand edge and is a thick hose.
at 3k i start to see boost up too 0.4 bar but its flickering and then at 6k it spikes up to 0.7 bar.

Seems you have teed it off at the right place. Long as it shows vaccum shouldn't be a problem.
I think it's a personal choice of where you take it from. Turbo vaccum where you have taken it from is a good spot.
The other one you could take it from is the one at the back of the manifold where the vaccum for the DV is.
I have taken mine from the front of the manifold as you look at it will be to the left of the front of the manifold. Your see a round object which is a 3 or 4 way vaccum connector attached to the co2 solenoid. Thats your other option.
To be honest mate seems like it's working. Maybe use some smal tie straps on the end of the t-section if you feel it's not leaking.
