Question Charging P1 battery - ctek

Hi folks,

Got myself a ctek 3600 for the P1 as won't be using it during the winter. Have a quick query:

I have wired up the battery using the eyelet connectors. Should I charge....

1. With bonnet fully open
2. With bonnet sitting slightly ajar resting on the latch
3. With bonnet closed

Would prefer option 3. The car is garaged btw.

Cheers chaps

No problem, my car wouldn’t let me set the alarm with the bonnet up, never had any issues heat smell etc

Great these CTEK chargers - still wary of leaving mine on overnight etc - tend to just plug it in every few days

Yeah I was the same. Even watched YouTube vids to make sure I hooked it up correctly. Have had to leave it now though. Will check it in at lunch tomorrow

Personally when i have to charge a battery on any make of car, i prefer to disconnect the battery from the car. Everyone does it diffrent i suppose, i still leave it sit in the car just disconnected. 2 mins put the terminals back on..

I have mine plugged in 24/7/365. Never had a problem, neither has my old man who's done similar.

When I was away for 6-months mine was charged with the bonnet closed and a car cover on for 6-months non-stop. No problems
