Default Engine Light on due to Remap

My Bugeye was remapped by the previous owner, and it has since gained a niggling problem (which has been ongoing). Basically, when the car over-revs, or your miss a gear when giving it some beans, it triggers something do with emissions and causes the engine light to come on. As you can tell, i'm clearly very technical minded here

Weirdly, it stays on for 48 hours and disappears.

Any ideas how to resolve this permanantly?

sounds like a problem with the lamda in the headers.. mine used to do similar until the light stayed on all the time.. maybe faulty/carbonned sensor?

Hi there if you have Bugeye RWX(bugeye WRX have worst/sensitive camshaft sensor) and if you are hitting the rev limiter for few times ecu will trigger CEL-check engine light and after few starts will disappear....
This is common faults/error on Bugeye WRX...
And again if you have someone with obd reader will be good to find which error code has been(this code will be stored like historic code in ECU)

Is there no permanent fix for this dodgy sensor?

Might have to invest in an obd reader, don't wanna take any chances!

If the previous owner had it mapped, do you know by who?

If not, get the map checked, sooner is best.

as mentioned a common bug bear on that model,
You dont need to ring the neck of the engine though as you will find the power drops off after 6200/6400 anyway so you not gaining anything by revving it so hard(besides your error codes that pop up)

Powerstation did my 2003 STI map and I kept getting a CEL.

O2 bank sensor... always came on after a longish journey

B Rawle remapped it in the end and CEL went away..
