If your internal wastegate is not closing properly, you won't acheive target boost.
What boost do you get on a WOT pull?
It may be the wastegate at fault, but in my experience the symptoms you describe are more likely to be the exhaust uppipe shields broken their welds on the pipe, and rattling about

It could be the wastegate, as you describe - The shaft that runs through the exhaust housing can sometimes crack.
Could also be the uppipe cat breaking up - I've seen this happen a few times, and it really rattles when the motor is free revved!

as said above sounds like heatsheilds rattling, also if you have failed a emissions test get it checked out dont let anyone guess at a diagnosis, there are more likely causes than a sensor! can you post your emissions figures of the mot sheet!

the sensor was picked up by a diagnositic machine! im based in germany and getting help repairing or fault finding is proving challenging!! is the waste gate repairable if it is at fault! the rattling is intermitant!! ive ordered a new sensor but postage takes anything from 4days to 2 weeks so frustrating being posted abroad!! are the heat sheilds easy to find to diagnois them myself?

yeah you can get a screwdriver or similar to push against them to check.
just cos you have a code for a sensor, i presume maybe a lean mixture on sensor 1? that isnt a diagosis, just as long as you know, dont want you chucking away your cash!!
