Default fuel tank question?

hi, just a quick one, on a 95 sti, what are the 2 wires on the passengers side of the fuel tank, under the 3 screw plate, thanks phil.

cant quite remember, but are they to do with the carbo canister. Not 100% and its to cold to go and check..

They are for the other sender unit as they have 2 senders

The Impreza tank could be considered as 2 tanks due to it’s design to provide clearence for the prop shaft, think of it like saddle bags with the horses back been the propshaft, (I don’t know where I got that analogy from but it works, just!), when the tank is full they are linked across the top but once the level falls they essentially behave like 2 tanks, with an extra sender and a jet pump to draw fuel into the O/S of the tank where the fuel pump is.

So I think the extra sensor just provides a more accurate reading than one sender alone could provide given the nature of the tank design.

BTW the jet pump is a mechanical pump driven by the returning fuel flow and feeds the O/S part of the tank with fuel once the level goes below a certain level.
