All depends on what alarm it is... my car spends most of its life with a disconnected battery, connect it back up and the alarm works fine (Scorpion)

Ok it's been remapped so will it wipe that or just keep that map?

Thanks for your help on this.

The map will be fine, it will just remove fault codes and stored short data (ie temperatures, fuelling adjustments and what not)

Everything will be fine again once its been started back up.

Ok thanks for that! Only going to change the battery and spark plugs out so how long do I have before the ecu resets?

Cheers

No need to worry about the ECU resetting or the alarm, just make sure the alarm is un-armed before changing the battery, the only bit you have to worry about is putting the battery in the right way round (and i have seen it been put in the wrong way before)

Time for the ECU to reset can be anything from 5-10 min, it all depends on how much power is left in the system and what is being used and what not.
