Exclamation BREMBO... OR K-SPORT ???

As above. Can I have some feedback please: what do people think of the New Age Brembo 325mm kit, compared to the K-Sport 330mm kit - on a Classic?

Is there a significant difference between one or other, in terms of ultimate stopping power and also confidence-inspiring top-of-the-pedal feel? (Obviously I realise that decent pads are required too).

Brakes will be used for fast road use only.

Well I know I have no comparison bettween ksports, but once I fitted decent pads and discs and new fluid and hoses I felt like I had a whole new set of brakes. I'm sure you'll only benifit from ksports if using them on track, unless you want the look factor.

Cheers RE54. So you have the OEM Brembo's on your Blobeye - that's what you're referring to, yeah?

I've experienced the Brembos myself and am certainly impressed by the top-of-pedal feel - feels like there's a decent amount of potential stopping power there for the road. And that's on the c.100kg heavier Blobeye to boot! They're worlds apart from the Subaru 4-pots, that's for sure.

Anyone else with their 2'penneth...?

The Brembo calipers can be made to work very well indeed.

If you can pick up a set of Brembo calipers on the cheap and they clear the wheels I would go with those and a decent set of discs/pads/lines like RE54 did ()

K Sports are also a decent option, but more expensive.

Well, K-Sports are only more expensive if you happen to get a decent set of discs in with the Brembo calipers second hand. Otherwise you have to shell out decent dosh on decent discs (floating jobs best... but expensive!) to go with the Brembos.

If you look on ebay, for example, people are wanting £400-500+ for the Brembo calipers... alone. But sometimes you see the calipers... plus... the discs for similar money (albeit 2nd hand OEM solid ones). IYSWIM...

My thought is the ksports are new discs as will the caliper and pads where the brembos will be an unknown condition, as you said by the time you've added new discs and pads the price is similar. Makes sence to buy new

To be fair, you do also have to add the price of a decent set of pads to the K-Sport kit too (as the supplied OEM ones are, in all fairness, 'to get you going' jobbies). But as you say, you're getting nice new everything! Inc. a great set of new floating discs!

That aside, how does the K-Sport kit 'feel' compared to the Brembo's 'feel'? Anyone?

Is there a significant amount of extra stopping power, in comparison. What's the feel and initial bite like, in comparison.

i have ksports 330mm with yellow stuff pads

pretty good set up imo, they bite well, decent pedal

but never really been tested on track or hard on the road yet tbh as engine still being run in

also no exp of brembos

ksport set up with ksport pads = poor braking imo

Brembos and PF discs and pads on a classic, spot on and never reached the limit of the brakes. Only changed as picked up some AP's cheap and gives you a wider choice of wheel design.

Yes, if memory serves, the above combo is indeed what API David recommends me to upgrade to, for my Classic.

HI
The 335mm kit we make is a very good kit , but is designed for the Subaru 4 pots not the Brembo's.

If you already have the Gold Brembo's , grooved discs and good pads can be had to make them work very well , I can supply you grooved one piece discs with black painted centres to stop them going rusty for £95 a pair , or our 2 piece grooved discs and bells with anodised centres for £325 , or Performance friction discs and Godspeed anodised bells for £495 a pair.

Fitted with such pads as the Bluestuff NDX at £146.81 the above will be a good powerful braking setup

Using Brembo calipers ect will never compete pricewise with kits such as the D2's and K sports as being made in China they will always be cheaper

Thanks Ian.

Can you comment on how the K-Sport and D2 kits (but using decent pads e.g. BS NDX), would compare to the Brembos/PF discs+GS bells/BS NDX combo?

Indeed, how do those purple anodised D2 kits compare to the like-for-like K-Sports?

The K sport and D2 kits are exactly the same , made in the same place but badged up differently

I have never tested them against Brembo's so cant comment

Ha! I did have my suspicions about that.
