Default STI V9 SpecC in GC8 - wiring

Hi,

I'm looking for people, willing to share a few information on the wiring part of the Spec C Version 9 swap in a GC8 body.

The mechanical aspect is very straight forward and easy. I did a lot of research on this topic, but couldn't find any really usuefull information. Afaik the DCCD part can be kept aside for the beginning, as the DCCD unit is total standalone and doesn't need the ECU to communicate with.

We started to put the underdash, front end engine harness in the car and as far as we are it looks not bad. I pluged in the battery and tried to measure the starter signal, but didn't get any 12V+ on the cable. I even tried to hook up the EOBD with the dealers Laptop and i just had a few clicking relais, but couldn't esabilish a solid connection.

Any input on that? Has anyone done this? How about the fuel pump, etc.?

Cheers
Martin

Why would you want to do it in the first place? Lighter shell?
Your in for a shock
By the time you have messed around and strengthened the shell/improved the car overall, its going to end up as heavy if not heavier than a twin scroll Spec C
Have you also trawled through the project section or done a search on here for any info?

Problem is the shell is a GC8 98, so no ability for EcuTEK afaik. The engine had over 200k km on the clock and ran with an SR40 turbocharger. The turbos cool but not that good for AutoX imho. So the decision was clear, twinscroll was the way to go and the Spec C V9 lump was the next logical step.

- Twinscroll
- ECUTek ability

I had a look through the Forum, but I didn't find the good threads, unfortunatly.

Anything from a phase 2 engine (MY99) would have given you ecutek availabilty you didnt need to go twin scroll, it will increase the torque so I would avoid any 5 speed boxes.
There should be a twin scroll conversion or two flying about, will see what I can find if I have the time

Maybe you misunderstood me a bit.

I have the Spec C V9 engine already in the car. I just need support for the wiring part. I did put the under dash harness in and the engine harness. The Front harness with all fuseboxes is in as well.

But i couldn't force the starter to start. Or get a proper 12V+ Signal on the starters trigger cable.

Cheers!

The Alternators are different, 3 cables instead of 2? as the new age run a computerised (smart though alot of people will disagree with them being smart at all ) alternator
Take it your running the Spec C ecu etc?

It's like this:

- 98 GC8 Chassis
- Spec C V9 Engine
- Euro 6speed 04 DCCD Gearbox
- Spec C V9 ECU
- Spec C V9 Wiring (underdash, front, engine)
- 04 Cluster

How would YOU wire it up?

I started to put in the underdash, front, and engine harness in the car, but couldn't get a signal on the starter, nor esabilish communication to the ecu. It's an el ghetto job now, just to see how it works. How would you do it?
