Default Idle / Stalling

Hi my STI 8 stalls when dropping down through the gears.

Example, coming off the motorway down the slip road from 70 - 0mph dropping down gears it stalls when I drop the clutch between 3rd - 2nd gear or putting it in neutral just before it comes to a stand still?

Only does it now and again

Any ideas at all peeps?

Cheers

Kev

Check your pipes for any splits would be a good start i think. What mods have you got?

Thanks for the info I have just had my engine rebuild however it did do it before the build.

Have decat pipe, DV, Induction kit thats it really. I will check the main pipes however checking all of them for a tiny split wud be difficult

I'm getting it mapped soon, will the mapper be able to find the leak...?

Kev

Is the dump valve working correctly? Do you have a standard one to try? If not you could remove the DV that is on at the moment, block the hole in the intercooler, and put a bolt in the Vac pipe and try that. If it still does it, obviously it isnt the DV and you can rule that out....

Sounds more like a leak in the intercooler pipe or cooler itself.

Wouldn't rule out the maf or ICV. What does the car do when starting from cold? How does it idle then?

What is a ICV? The car is fine from cold, it's only when slowing down from 50+ mph - 0 the revs drop down under 1K and then it stalls.... Only does it now and again, once today....

I have been told it mite be the idle control valve?

Thanks for the replies

ICV is the Idel control Valve mate. Normaly these can be just cleaned out and then replaced.
