Default quick question about electronic boost controllers

i have a turbo with internal wastegate set to 15psi at full boost.
what benefits are there to using an electronic boost controller what can i do with them?
can they control boost creep?
can they bring on full boost much earlier in the rev range?
pardon my ignorance on this one

yep they can turn boost up, adjust boost level in the rev range etc they are a brillient bit of kit. very very tempting tho so be warned adjust it little by little, you should go for an apex ,expensive i know but defo worth every penny

I can give details on an Apexi AVCR only,

You can have:

Individual gear boost settings for 5 speed.
Total control over boost duty and feedback speed.
2 Different boost settings, or 3 if you include wastegate pressure only.

Boost creep is not controllable via a map or boost controller, it is a mechanical issue usually attributed to the wastegate port being too small.

Is your wastegate set at 15psi or is that your current peak boost?

The Apexi will allow for quicker spool responce over the std 2 port and 3 port setups, but if your car is mapped with a 3 port solenoid you can achieve very similar results you just will not have the control over the boost that you would have with the Apexi.

Cheers Iain

sorry for my ignorance with the wastegate set to 15psi then my current peak boost will be lower is that right?
my current peak boost is 15psi.
or do you mean the wastegate set to 15psi is what the turbo produces not what the engine sees? man this is hard for me to understand :/

Ok

The wastegate is set to approx 0.5 bar (air pressure required to open it) on the std turbo, the ecu uses the boost solenoid to bleed air away from the actuator to allow the turbo to produce more than 0.5 bar.

As standard your overall peak boost is controlled via the ECU using the boost solenoid and the MAP sensor

Cheers Iain
