You can get either version:

I think it's a little louder, but I'm not positive

I have just sold a ninja 2 last week and bought an afterburner vortex,it is a lot louder than the ninja 2 on tickover and especially when opening it up.Having said that the ninja 2 is a good compromise if you dont want a mega loud backbox imho. I also fitted a nur spec r on my mates 95 wrx 2 weeks ago, and on tickover the vortex is the louder of the 2 .But as soon as you apply the gas the nur spec r is way louder than the vortex,so much so my mate bought this to stop waking his neighbours at 04.00 in the morning.

I always maintained i would buy a blitz after my 1st impreza ,but a week driving my mates and i am more than happy to stick with my full decat with the vortex - loud ,but not to ott imho.

Also the angled exit afterburner vortex tends to give better gas flow over the straight exit :

I got a cobra backbox made couple of weeks ago, its pretty loud im really happy with how it sounds, especially for just a backbox! I had it with a 3" inch tapered down to a 2.5" flange to meet the standard centre pipe - pete from exhaustsuk on here did me a SN member deal, £175 for the backbox including delivery. I went for 4.5" slash cut tip with up and out angle...

Not a bad price but some bargains to be had if you know where to look .

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

This one finished today, and went for 1/3 of the price of a new one.

The one below was absolutley mint and and had it been advertised correctly would of sold for more.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Yes a mint afterburner vortex for £50.00

+1 for the above ,when i first bought an afterburner, i was almost embaraced to put my foot on the accelerator, because it seemed so loud compared to the prodrive system i had on.Since then i have had 3 different backboxes and now the afterburner dont sound extreme at all, loud but bearable

The blitz on the other hand - I suggest you learn sign language 1st before you even think of buying one .
