Sounds reasonable to me
Design & fitting work for an item that isn't going to sell by the hundreds.

I tweaked an STi undertray to fit under a WRX scoop using 1mm ali sheet. The time/effort/parts spent would make £200 look reasonable.

No, you can modify a STI8 undertray - I did, but also needed to fit a slightly higher scoop (not a newage scoop though).

To fit under a WRX scoop?
Theoretically yes, but it involves quite a bit of work and buying the STi tray seal strip.
It would be easier to start with a complete STi tray.

The tray "letterbox" would need opening up on the turbo side and side panels added to complete the hole.
Then the tray curved panel would need its side panels taken off and higher ones added to raise the curve.
The STi skirt would be added to ensure a seal between tray and IC.

Still an absolute rip off, and i don't believe that it is worth all that money, regardless of how hard you think it is to make. I am knocking one up at the moment to try and offer at a sensible price to people if you can wait a week or two. It will bolt direct onto the undertray beneath the scoop. Of course, i will have to cover all of my design and fitting costs..........................

EDIT: Oh, and if you slam your bonnet too hard with that metal guide underneath, then you will create a nice flat collection of fins to improve cooling!
