Question rebuilding a semi closed block to run 400-450bhp

hi there

im new to scoobys and i have always wanted 1 and when i got my v4 sti i had a nightmare lol, first night the turbo went and by the 3rd week it was on the back of a recovery truck with a knocking engine . work ended and i found myself having to break the car in order to get my money back (gutted).

but im not giving up on them just yet, so im going to rebuild and forge my knocking engine myself to keep cost down with help from a local garage and you guys over the next year. with the plan to buy a 2 door typr r next summer and swap engines . lol

right to the point lol!!!! today i got the engine stripped to the block and ill be splitting it over the weekend and i can tell you that its done two bearings that i can tell up to now, so im wanting to know if someone could help me by giving me a list of parts i need to source for engine and what machining if any is needed and what to do next after the engine is stripped

thanks lee

block surface skim

semi closed deck is fine as is open deck below 500/550 and id use a RCM modified oil pump or get Harvey smith to modify it as he's atop bloke

If you can find a decent machine shop they can but it a very mixed thing 'subaru crank grinding' as some say a defo no no but others disagree but id get a nitrated v9 crank as they are the strongest mate.

yeah i have read this with people saying about regrinds blocking the oil ways in the crank with metal bits off machining and others saying a gd machine shop would be able to clean this out no problem, guess new is safer lol

does the v9 crank fit without any work ????

It shouldn't be to bad mate lol,im hoping to see around the 500 or so mark, ive got one of only 25 early prodrives built so it agood one as well, and that power in a classic should be a useful tool
I'll be posting some pic's when its finished so keep your eye's peeled lol.
Though's prices aren't to bad at all mate,i went over size on my piston,s so i could have it bored out and be shore i had a nice straight bore and fresh honing to boot.
