should always diconect the battery whatever your doing i lernt this the hard way when i accidently touched the connector of the alternator whith a screw driver that was touching the inlet manifold needless to say i had a big fooking shock lol and blew the main 80amp fuse had a nightmare trying to find another one 4 o'clock on a saturday pannicing with a remap booked on the monday morning lol. side tracking abit there but the point i was making you may have shorted somthing not knowing you did. only way you can test is to get ya multi meter out and and check at the switches then if there is no power getting to them use the halfing method

well im not an amatuer mechanic lol, i do know what im doing with a set of spanners.i understand people cautions when dealing with electricity but if you know what you are doing then there shouldnt be a problem. if it was dealing with airbags or any other major electrical items then i would be cautious but i hope that subarus are made in a way that disconnecting a switch for a window should not render things useless.
anyway ive reconnected window switches to no avail. have been told could be down to the alarm switch on the bonnet?
