Question Where can I possibly get a used MAF sensor for W Reg Classic Turbo?

As per the title, my son's MY 2000 is fouling it's plugs and "hunting" at tickover.
I am loathe to purchase a new MAF sensor as he will be soon selling the car.
Are there any specialists who we could approach for a used but functioning one?

Green label is the MY93-96 one.

The MY2000 is a cassette style replacement (unbolt the old one from the MAF 'tube', and replace with new).

These are prob the cheapest 'new' ones you'll find:-

Impreza MY99/00 MAF

Impreza MY99/00 MAF

As to their reliability/longevity?... Well that's another question......

To be fair, there are actually green painted markings on the M99/00 one - either a green "dot" for early pre-2006 manf'd ones; or a green "stripe" for post 2006....

Yeah, as said, personally I'd spend that bit extra and get proper one from ICP or ASP....

New ones are dirt cheap, may as well buy one of those.

Tight*rse Scots. I would never, ever buy a secondhand airflow meter insert, whether selling car or not. You'll feel really sick if you buy your son a knackered one and it blows the engine up prior to sale. Economics don't add up either. You'll probably be charged £30-£50 for a used one, and they're only around a hundred new. Not worth the risk for that kind of saving.

Aside from anything else if you buy a brand new genuine one it can be used as a positive selling point when advertising the car. Can even show prospective buyers the date code on it.

Agree whole heartedly with Splitters.

OP, do it. It'll give you peace of mind that when the car's sold, you won't have any anxiety re. a phone call soon after along the lines of, "Hi, just bought the car off you, but it's just blown up on me...etc...etc..."

As SP says, turn the purchase to your advantage re. a positive selling point -- if the buyer is a Subaru enthusiast, he'll 'know' and appreciate it and will be more likely to buy, etc...

All very valid points and I will now try to find ICP?

I was led to beleieve that these were several hundred pounds and so obviously I was mis-informed.

Thanks again all of you.

The early ones are. Something like £260!

Count yourself 'lucky'...
