Default Shell Helix 5w40, good oil? (New Development)

Is shell helix 5w40 oil any good? can't remember if it is or on not.

its on offer in my local bargin hardware shop, £9.99 for 4 litres

i think its to thin, we use helix 10 / 40 for the jdm bugeye and i used to use it on jdm classsic, hope this helps

i use motul 300v 5w 40 and is good oil,sounds a bit more noisey(tappety) but have been assured its fine.

I use shell helix ultra 5w40 fully synthetic recomended by Bob rawle.Its what he uses and thats good enough for me.

5/40 fully syn good,5/30 little thin 5/60 will cause problems when cold,good on a track

is that the price for shell helix super - which is a semi synthetic or shell helix ultra - which is fully synthetic ?.If it is the latter then i'll have 8 litres please.

If its shell helix ultra then snap their hands off its a good oil, use it in both my Spec C and my STI type R

Yeah, it's not bad stuff, I would go for something better for track use, but for normal use, it's fine

went back and looked today, it IS 'Ultra' fully synthetic... so i brought a whole box, 16 litres

All sold out both stores, no surprise really 7 days after original post - damnmmm, would have bought 2 boxes as I change engine oil every 3000 miles,and use no other motor oil.
