Well it's either a 'normal' STI 3 or a V limited speak to a guy on called 'GC8' as he does know a thing or 2 about the classic shaped impreza.
Although i do beleive the V limited came with a blue inserts on the seats and blue carpeting

Aplied number is a version III STi
STi Version III V-limited has a roof vent (although not based on the RA), and the glass is tinted a pale green (as well as the badge with number)

Subaru usually make a v-limted model if they win something LOL The V stands for Victory !!
AFAIK they made 555 (not sure if they had a number 13) STi Version III v-limited cars, of which yours would appear to be the 437th
The roof vent sets it aside from the STi which had no limit on production..

Scoobypedia info on STi-3 / STi-3 V-limited:
1996. 8 : Impreza WRX & Impreza WRX STi−3 [ Type-D ]
The BOXER-MASTER4 EJ20 engine was improved. The engine used molybdenum coating low-friction pistons, multi-point injection system, IHI RHF5HB turbine, and large size intercooler. And there was a mild facelift for the WRX with new front and rear bumpers, new headlight and taillight design and a new grille. And added the SRS airbag. As for WRX STi type-RA, braking performance was improved by using 16 inches 4-pot caliper at the front and 15 inches 2-pot caliper at the rear.
Horsepower 280ps/6500rpm torque 33.5kg-m/4000rpm (WRX, WRX-typeRA)
Horsepower 240ps/6000rpm torque 31.0kg-m/3000rpm (wagon)
Horsepower 280ps/6500rpm torque 35.0kg-m/4000rpm(STi version)
1997.01 : STi3 V-limited
The WRX WRX STi 3 V-limited package included original bucket seats, a WRC champion emblem, carbon meter panel, and limited edition number plate.

As a guide to price/desireability:

I couldn't think of many better ways of spending a spare £3.5K, myself.

Of course, a regular STi v.3 could be 'made' to look like a V-Limited, given a previous owner's will to do so!
I think the only thing that is defo different on the VIN plate between a normal STi v.3 and a V-Limited, is the "Option code"...
Weirdly though, the paint code, 53C, is 555 Blue - but that colour was for the v.2 "555" Ltd Edtn... and you have a v.3! Ergo, if you DO have a Ltd Edtn, then it'd be a "V-Limited" (for v.3-6), and the paint code would therefore be 74F, for Sonic Blue!

see why i was getting confused lookng at the list thats on here but nevermind guess there are exceptions maybe everything seems to point to the v limited having the roof vent numbers etc etc except from the paint colour but i dunno over my head lol

the 555 was based on a version II STi but with mudflaps, roof vent, electra wheels, optional decal plaque and I'm sure it was the same colour as the v-limited's of that era.....I'll check later
Shaun
Paint codes here .. I'll look through but you might be right
