MY97 WRX STi 3 V Limited £3750 ono!!!!
MY97 Subaru Impreza WRX (red top) STi Version III V Limited
Thatcham Approved Category 1 Alarm & Immobiliser!
I am only selling up because a while ago I had an accident while rock climbing (well, rock falling as it happens), and was told I'd never drive a manual again (I was initially told I wouldn't have my lower left leg!!! Fools) but I stuck with it and indeed was able to, with minor discomfort. Unfortunately it now causes me too much pain and I am having to sell my lovely scoob.
Please read the full advert, as I have noted any "bad points" (not my opinion but i know how **** people can be lol, i.e. most of the red paint has fallen off the manifold)). I know it's a bit long winded but I know when I bought my first scoob back in 2000 I'd have loved an advert like this! so please bare with me...
5 months Tax & MOT - Mileage approx. 94,000 miles (but used weekends so may alter)
Some history (but some lost) including lots of history/papers from Japan.
Recently had new NGK Spark Plugs, Magnecor HT Leads, Cambelt Service, all sensors removed/cleaned or replaced/refitted.....
The WRX STi Version III V-Limited was produced in this colour as it is the same as the WRC cars of the time.
This is the 3rd classic impreza WRX I have owned (although one of them I owned twice) but the first STi, and with the few modifications it already has, it is much quicker than my previous 300-310bhp imprezas?!
Over £2500 of TASTEFUL modifications include:
Genuine Front Fog Lamps.
Grooved front brake discs.
Speedo Coverter (Top speed is no longer limited ton 118mph).
Tinted rear windows.
Crystal Side Repeaters.
Smoked Indicators.
Apexi Induction Kit (Still have O.E. Airbox also).
HKS SSQV Atmospheric Dump Valve.
Blitz Turbo Timer (inc. Boost Gauge)
Pioneer CD Player (The one with the dolphin/racecar display)
HKS Hyper Exhaust System (cat back).
17" white Speedline alloys (could do with a refurb if you're a perfectionist)
There is an Apexi ASM fitted, but this stopped working for some reason a few weeks back (Air Speed Meter - Only makes pretty pictures, doesn't change performance etc)
As the rare V-Limited STi, it comes with standard STi extras and V-Limited only extras:
PAS
ABS
4 Electric windows
Electric Folding Mirrors (Drivers Mirror doesn't fold in, just clicks)?! But still adjusts fine)
4 Pot Front Brake Calipers
Alloy bonnet & doors (Not Heavy steel!).
STi Shocks and Springs.
Carbon Fibre Clock Surround branded "STi".
Red Stitched Leather STi Steering Wheel and matching gearknob.
Air Conditioning (Ice Cold).
Red/Clear STi Tailights.
Roof Vent (has a new seal fitted).
Red Shouldered STi Bucket Seats, Embroidered with "STI - World Rally Manufacturers' Champions - Subaru". (There are 2 small cigarette burns on the drivers seat, but haven't got any worse than they were in the last 2 years)
Crest on rear, with a wreath made from flags of the world, and the text "FIA - World Rally Manufacturers' champions - Subaru - 1996".
I have been told by various 'enthusiasts' that "The engine was vastly updated on the version 3 sti's, and was given the name Boxer Master 4. It developed about 300PS but output was reported at the then-established gentlemen's agreement power limit of 280 PS (210 kW; 280 bhp). Torque peaked at 4000 rpm with a value of 35.0 kgf·m (343 N·m). In standard form. They run a VF23 IHI ball bearing turbocharger, have the highest performing (better breathing) heads of all the STi's and Forged internals!"
My scoob is now 14 years old, but is in very good condition. The bodywork is very straight, but there are a couple of minute dents (??) about the size of a little finger nail, which i haven't had removed because it always happens to me and I'd be even more furious than I am already when I come out of work etc and find another mark from a careless door/handbag/child lol.
I'm sure I have forgotten many good things, so please feel free to ask any questions: 07843618709 but she really must be viewed to be appreciated. Has never missed a beat, runs brilliantly, and very very fast.
Always run on Vpower, and I will throw in a couple of bottles of millers octane booster into the sale!!!
Whilst hunting for this one, I have (as i'm sure is the case for most of you) seen a number of classic imprezas for sale, described as MINT or VGC, which are far from it when you get to see them in the flesh, so I urge you, if you are after a classic impreza, to come and view mine as the photo's really don't do her justice!! This is an enthusiast owned scoob, not a spanked around town by a boy racer scoob. And a very, VERY regretable sale!!!! :'-(
Very regretable sale due to a serious left knee injury, hence I am having to buy (obviously not swap for) something Auto/Tiptronic...and preferably soft top. ;-)
Advertised elsewhere, so I reserve the right to remove from auction.
I will, if arranged with me beforehand, POSSIBLY collect anyone wishing to view her from HASSOCKS train station!!!! (I know how much of a pain it can be travelling to view/buy cars) or even Gatwick airport if like my last subaru buyer years ago, you are from scotland?!!
I am based in Hassocks, West Sussex, BN6. (Just off the A23 London to Brighton Road)
For further photos or information, please contact me on 07843 618709
You will not be dissapointed, so come and get her!!!
NEW PRICE - £3750 ono!!!!!
I would like £4000 for her which i think is a bargain (was £7000 2 years ago and minging in comparison, and there are STi3s about in lesser condition for £4999+!!!) but I am open to sensible offers as I am after a quick-ish sale. But please no silly offers as I would rather keep her and just up my dosage of pain killers!!
Cheers,
Jon.

....
Gearbox is standard AFAIK, it isn't DCCD if that's what you mean? And goes well over 120mph so isn't out of an RA/R...
And yep, engine had new in Dec 2007: 2 conrods, crank, all associated bearings and oil pump.
Cheers,
Jon
