Thumbs up Forge re-circulating DV classic MY99

Hi,

I have recently fitted a Forge recirculating DV, I was wondering if I disconnect the re-circulating hose will it be louder?

and what happens to the setup if you do this? I wanted to know before I try and upset anything?

Could it cause any damage to anything?

any ideas?

if you disconnect the hose it won't be a recirculating dump valve

why did you not just by an atmospheric one?

Here's the ideal d/v for you if you want daft noises: http://www.google.co.uk/#q=duck+call...ecbba4b4ffde8d

Seriously, guy, leave it alone. If it were MEANT to have a VTA valve it would have been designed with one

Question is what will happen if I disconnect the re-circulating hose? surely it's the same thing as a blow-off style valve isn't it?

Well, yes and no. Yes, it will now VTA. No, it wasn't DESIGNED to do that, so the valve itself may suffer damage, plus you have the unused pipe to block off. And get THAT wrong, you are into a whole new can of worms.

Why not just open the window and shout, "Psssssssssssssssssssh" at people as you change gear? They will look at you just the same as if the car does it

I had an atmospheric DV on my 99 Classic when I bought it, but I refitted a standard recirculating one and the car runs better

If you just remove the recirc pipe and do nothing else you will cause yourself a stack of problems due to the turbo ingesting large amounts of unfiltered, unmetered air. Expensive repair bill the likeliest outcome.

If you remove the recirc pipe and block the return to the inlet tube you have effectively created a vent to atmosphere dumpvalve. It might be a bit louder but won't sound as loud as a "proper" VTA, as they have trumpets, venturis and a variety of other trinkets deliberately designed to amplify the noise.

If you do that you will also be stuck with the usual problems that result from venting the dumped air to atmosphere, including poor mixture calculation at idle/gearchange/lift-off, with whatever running problems that will cause.
