Default vf24 onto UK MY99

ive been informed (by a well known/respected local sub engine builder/tuner) that it is possible to run a vf24 on a MY99 UK Turbo on the std ecu with just an uprated fuel pump. car is totally std apart from newage WRX intercooler and prodrive metal Y-pipe

and on the other hand ive been told not to do this unless i get it mapped at same time also

also, being in N.ireland the car runs on 97RON fuel

thoughts/opinions?

You cannot run that turbo on your car without having the car mapped for it, the airflow will be different along with the fuelling, the ecu will not correct either enough and you will have issues with the engine
You would also be advised to replace the intercooler piping to some samco gear, upgrade the turbo and fuel pump and have the car mapped.

Just curious when people post: "by a well known/respected local sub engine builder/tuner",why dont they name the person giving the advice, this way other members on this forum can probably save themselves some grief/expense when the info that they they have been given is clearly wrong. I have no problems saying bob rawle reccommends shell helix ultra as a good oil to use in a subaru - and this is what i use.

Yes you can run a vf24 on your 99 uk turbo, you can uprate the fuel pump and add a panel filter for good measure, start it up and the car will run,it will probably feel quite rapid as well, but it wont last very long .If it was that simple the likes of bob rawle, jgm, and several others would not be in business.
Play it safe get it mapped and save in the long run imho.

cool n the gang, cheers. ive came to the conclusion that i will just wait for remap just to be safe on it.

as for 'no names' - im just not one for quote names on things that people have said to me. end of the day there is nothing to stop them saying they didnt say that, then you get a bitchfest on a forum
